Question - "What does having a dream mean to you?"Answer - "A dream is a goal glimmering in the distance;it is an inner calling that, when accomplished, serves as the rites of passage into wisdom."Erden Eruç - Sep 17, 2004
On this site, you will find information about Around-n-Over, our charitable goals, and the Six Summits Project. Our mission is to educate and to inspire through human powered endeavors. We want to engage children and adults alike. We are showing that dreams can come true with due diligence and that tragedies can be an inspiration to reach for greater goals.
Six Summits Project
In Stage 1, we reached the summit of Denali (Mt. McKinley) by human power. This was a prelude to rowing the oceans, and climbing the highest summits on five other continents respectively, hence the name of our first human powered project.
The current phase (Stage 2) in the Six Summits Project is to reach the summit of Aconcagua by human power from Seattle. Aconcagua is the highest summit in the Western Hemisphere and in South America. It is also the highest summit in the world outside of the Himalayas. Located in the Andes in Argentina, Aconcagua is halfway between Santiago, Chile and Mendosa, Argentina.
Educational Effort
Following the journey to Denali, as a part of our educational mission, we have visited many schools ranging from Kindergarten to High School. Our presentations of the journey so far covered goal setting, achieving dreams, overcoming obstacles, as well as career choices, technology applications to the Six Summits Project and entrepreneurial aspects of Around-n-Over. Through our partnership with Leave No Trace, we were able to invite an LNT Master Educator to help on occasion to empower the students to become better stewards of their environment.
We will continue to use this multi year, self propelled, human powered journey around the world as the foundation for our content prepared for education and inspiration. This effort will expand to include schools in other countries, who will have a common experience in following the journey, and who will learn about each other.
We will take everyone along on our journeys, however vicariously, turning the same journeys into opportunities to learn, to enjoy and to allow one's self to be captivated.
