A Norwegian scientist published research Wednesday proving Santa Claus can and does defy physics delivering gifts worldwide every Christmas. The Internet magazine forskning.no consulted astrophysicist Knut Jorgen Roed Odegaard and other experts to dispel rumors Santa is imaginary. In the article, Odegaard refutes such claims as Santa would need to move so fast, he would vaporize due to air resistance or be torn to pieces by gravitational forces. "Santa obviously has an ion-shield of charged particles, held together by a magnetic field, surrounding his entire sleigh," Oedegaar said. He went on to suggest global warming is in part due to Santa's frantic annual scamper. "There are so many more people now, and so many more good children, that there are more gifts and thus more air resistance," he said. "Therefore, it is natural to explain the warming up of the polar region with all the extra heat that is released. "But this problem will solve itself over time, because if children are too good, then all the ice at the North Pole will melt. Then there will be no more winter, and thus no more Christmas."http://www.wpherald.com/print.php?StoryID=20041222-014614-6423r
